Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

ℹ️ Name change (July 2026): This product was previously called “My Canned Notes Pro” and is now “Canny Notes.” It is the same product, run by the same team, with the same features, data practices, and privacy commitments — only the name has changed. Some internal identifiers and our website domain (mcnp.live) may still reference the former name.

🔒 Short version: Our extension operates with a strict zero-collection policy. Your activity is 100% private. We use no behavioral trackers, no telemetry (no Google Analytics or tracking scripts), and we never scrape or read your browsing history. Cloud Sync is entirely optional, and all synced data is protected with client-side AES-256 encryption.

📦 Which products this covers: this policy applies to Canny Notes, My Canned Notes, TaskDrift, Quick Search and ListGrab.

ListGrab collects nothing whatsoever. It has no account, no cloud sync and no network code of any kind, so sections 1, 3, 4 and 5 below — which describe accounts, AI features, cloud storage and payment processing — do not apply to it. ListGrab reads the part of a page you right-click purely to build the list you asked to copy, places that text on your clipboard, and discards it. The only thing it stores is your own preferences, saved by your browser.

1. What Data We Collect

We collect only the absolute minimum data required to operate the service:

2. What We Do NOT Collect

3. How We Use Your Data

Data we collect is used solely to:

4. Data Storage & Security

Local storage: By default, all your notes are stored securely on your device using Chrome's built-in local storage. Only you can access this data.

Cloud storage (Pro): Pro users automatically get cloud sync to access their notes across devices. All synced data is fully encrypted and stored in Supabase, a SOC 2 certified cloud provider. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Your notes are encrypted in a way that not even our backend team can view or access your content.

5. Third-Party Services

When you use an AI feature, the text you send is passed to one of the model providers below to generate the reply. Which one handles a given request depends on availability and on the model selected. We do not store your prompts, and none of these providers is given your name, email or account details — only the text of the request.

Each provider handles the request under its own privacy policy. If you would rather no text left your device at all, simply do not use the AI features — every other part of Canny Notes works without them.

Fonts and icons: the extension's own pages load an icon stylesheet from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. That request tells Cloudflare your IP address, as any web request does. It carries none of your notes or account data.

6. Open Source & Credits

Some parts of Canny Notes are built on open-source work by other people. We're grateful for it, and we want to be clear about what it is and what it costs you.

We do not charge you for any of this. Spelling and grammar checking is free for everyone, forever — it runs offline on your own device, never sends your text anywhere, and never consumes AI credits. We make no money from these open-source components, and we don't resell them.

The only paid part of Canny Notes is the AI writing features (rewriting, tone changes, drafting and similar), because those call a paid third-party AI service that costs us money per request. That is what a Pro subscription and the daily AI credits pay for — nothing else.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated cloud data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Local data on your device is deleted when you uninstall the extension.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

9. Children's Privacy

Canny Notes is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension.
